SAN ANDREAS DEPARTMENT OF
CORRECTIONS AND REHABILITATION

CORRECTIONAL OFFICER ACADEMY

ACADEMY PROCESS
[SPACER]

Stage 1 - Personal History Statement*
The very first stage of the SADCR Basic Correctional Officer Academy (BCOA) is the Personal History Statement (PHS). This is an application form that you hand in which has all of your basic information like name, date of birth, address, education history and workplace history. Once submitted, the Office of Peace Officer Selection and Employee Development (POSED) will look over and review the PHS, identifying if any improvements need to be made.

If improvements do need to be made, then you, the applicant, will be made aware via email, along with the improvements that need to be made. Once changed, this will then be submitted once more for review.

If your PHS meets our initial standards, then you will be forwarded to the next stage, the Written Examination.

Stage 2 - Written Examination
After receiving an email that your PHS has been approved, you will receive an invite to attend an exam at the Correctional Training Center. This will be moderated by staff members part of the Office of Peace Officer Selection and Employee Development, who will then mark and review your submitted exam.

(( This stage is done completely Out of Character. An exam will be sent to you through forum PM which you must complete and submit within 48 hours. We roleplay the IC characteristics of how the exam would be operated to make you, as applicants, aware of what is IC'ly expected of you. ))

The Written Exam contains two scenario-based questions revolving around operations at the Facility. Both need answering with as much detail as possible. You will be given thirty (30) minutes to complete this exam due to the size of the exam. Please remember that this is completely different to anything related further in the Academy Process, with its sole purpose being to assess you as a person in writing.

If your Written Exam (WE) meets our required standards, you will be notified via email and be asked to arrange a Verbal Interview with a member of the Office.

If we believe that your Written Exam falls short of our expectations, you may be given a chance to retake it. This is given on a case-by-case basis depending on how the applicant has failed. If you haven't been given the chance to retake, then this will be clear and you will be removed from the Academy process.

Stage 3 - Verbal Interview
Once receiving an email stating that you have passed the Written Examination, you will be given details to arrange a Verbal Interview with a member of staff from the Office of Peace Officer Selection and Employee Development. This is a simple interview where we learn a little bit more about you and what has made you so keen to apply to become a Correctional Officer.

This is conducted at our Correctional Training Center, on a one-on-one basis between the applicant and the member of Office staff. The interview is recorded so that deliberations can be conducted on the interview by other staff members, not just the single one who conducted the Interview.

If you are successful with the Verbal Interview, you are offered a contract with the San Andreas Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as a Student. This will mean that you will be able to take part in the 12 week, intense, training sessions in order to gain more experience before being exposed to the real Prison environment.

(( On an Out of Character note, the "12 week" training academy is NPC'd as a whole. During your time as a Student you will be required to read the Student Manual and then sign off on it when you feel as if you've a good grasp of the material followed by a Correctional Officer Exam. ))

If you aren't successful, then you will be made aware via email and removed from the process.

Stage 4+5 - Contract Offer as a Student
More details are given once you have reached this stage.

Due to the fact that people are active at different times of the day, paired with time-zones, we have found a system that seems to work well to arrange Verbal Interviews.

This is for you to join our Discord Server (click here for more details), where you can physically arrange a suitable time for your Interview.

Alternatively, if you're IG and you see any of these officers in-game, feel free to shoot us a PM and ask if we could handle your interview.

If you're having any trouble arranging your interview, let us know and we will help you out.
