Swift Response by Officers Leads to Inmate’s Segregation Following Aggressive Outburst
###
On 09/AUG/2024 within the San Andreas State Prison in Fort Carson, an incident unfolded in the A1 Housing Unit of the facility involving an inmate Zivanovic, who exhibited disruptive behavior by making demands for amenities such as access to the canteen and yard. His requests were coupled with rude and inappropriate language, prompting officers to deny his demands.

As the situation escalated, a frisk was initiated, during which inmate Zivanovic aggressively resisted, launching into a physical confrontation with the officers. Officer Callahan responded promptly, issuing multiple warnings before deploying OC spray to subdue the inmate. Despite the clear instructions, inmate Zivanovic continued to resist, forcing Officer Barnaby to intervene with a baton to help neutralize the threat.

Following the incident, both officers maintained control of the situation and administered counter-OC spray measures to mitigate any lasting effects on the inmate. Inmate Zivanovic was then escorted to disciplinary segregation without further resistance, ensuring the safety and security of the facility.

This swift and coordinated response by Officer Callahan and Officer Barnaby underscores the professionalism and preparedness of our correctional staff in managing volatile situations.
